So after reading a lot of messages from fans over on ReverbNation, I decided to issue an imaginary showdown where FL Studio, Stagelight and Ableton Live bettled to the death and all fought for my honor while Sylenth, PoiZone, Sytrus and Nexus all did the same. For the DAW, FL Studio won by a landslide. Why? Because 1. I know how to use it more and 2. please see #1. I'm kidding...let me explain. Ableton Live felt like learning a different language. Like trying to do something you know fairly well but completely backwards. Some people might argue that Ableton is the king of the three but I just couldn't get into it. The effects felt unnecessarily complicated and out of place and there was little intuition in the UI. But who knows? Maybe I'll revisit it in the future. {probably not though} Stagelight was a bit more intuitive mostly due to the tutorial showing you where everything is but it was underwhelming to me. It felt like a trial software even though it was the full version. Like a Lite app on the app store instead of the real deal. It felt like parts were missing from the basic package. That didn't deter me though as I was able to get some work done on a song. So far I myself am not impressed with it but I'll release it as FREE on my Soundcloud For the VST, I have to admit it was a close call between all four and I guess the winner would have to depend on what type of music I was producing. For dubstep, Sytrus really is the best in my opinion while Sylenth is awesome with pads and other airy sounds. Ooh, and stabs...gotta have those sharp stabs. Overall, Nexus won with a hearty Chuck Norris punch to the faces of the others as overall Lead Gen VST because of the intuitiveness I found with using it along with how many features were right in front rather than hidden in some back-end page. So I've got my website...now what do I do with it? I held a poll with some email subscribers and here are some of the ideas that they presented for things I should host or sell on my site. - Stickers - Physical CD's - MP3 Downloads - T-Shirts {different styles IE Long sleeve, cropped etc} - Hoodies {Pull-overs and Zip-ups} - Even custom personally designed stuff like spike bracelets and such like in my pictures set {not too sure about this one} I'm thinking some stuff over and besides music, I want to make my website a bit different from all other artists. I want to have my own type of social media platform within the website along with a store and {of course} music. HaXxXo Online Magazine Jan 1, 2014 New FL studio update, new samples and loops from Music Radar to play with, a whole bunch of new fans {or HaXers...still playing with the title but that sounds good for now} and a whole new set of artwork dubbed the "HV^Z" logo. FL Studio always has and will be my primary DAW but I'm taking the step in investing in Ableton, Magix and Stagelight just to try to keep things fresh and diversified As for the samples, aside from Loopmasters being awesome at what they do, I have discovered Music Radar for new sounds. I still use my VST's for leads and bass but I am always on the lookout for new FX and percussion samples. I will be working on many new songs including some possible collaborations AND a few tracks where I finally get the courage up to sing on a track for the first time ever. Expect new sounds to be more of an Electo feel over my usual Techno type style. Moving on to uplifting and even club music because 1. It's awesome and 2. With FL Studio over what I used to make music with {let's not even mention it because it doesn't even deserve notable mention ahem...MTV Music Gene....} it is so much easier to automate, resample, master and do so much more.
